The Department of Molecular Biosciences (Institutt for molekylær biovitenskap; IMBV) conducts research and teaching at bachelor and postgraduate level in molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology. The Faculty of Social Science has 2,200 students and 140 employees and is located in the center of the city of Oslo at Pilestredet 35. PhD Fellowship at the Department of Border Region Studies, The deconstruction of borders and unfamiliarity in the European Union: An analysis of historical representations of otherness and contemporary practices in border regions.

The research topic will be in the area of geometric approximation, in particular sampling and geometric inference, with applications to the analysis of complex geometric patterns in the large scale structure of the universe. The PhD studies will be carried out under supervision of Prof. Gert Vegter (Johann Bernoulli Institute) and Prof. Rien van de Weygaert (Kapteyn Astronomical Institute).

Construction workers are at a high risk for developing skin disorders as a result of exposure to a wide variety of allergens and irritants.

The focus of this PhD project is on the development of motor imagery (MI) capacity in young children (5-10 years). During the first phase, a longitudinal study will be performed to chart the developmental trajectories of MI and motor planning and execution in 5 to 10 year olds in detail.

The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology gives courses in Dutch and English. These courses cover all aspects of substantive criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology. Research in substantive criminal law holds a prominent place in the research conducted by the department.

Understanding the role of ancient whole genome duplications (WGD) and subsequent pathway divergence in generating the complexity of life on earth is an important goal of comparative genomics.
